Can You Bear It?
While waiting for our friend Mike to stop by to show him where the brown bear was we were watching a black bear down below about 1:30PM today as Mike pulled up! At first it was sitting down, and all I could see was the head and two black ears which looked like a black cat curled up.......till it got up and moved! No black cat for sure....black bear yes, it hung around below awhile eating grass and while we were looking around for it we swear it had to have been another further down below crossing the Mike's lane! So we think there were 2 black bears down there....hard to get anything done with so much wildlife action! Right on Right on....hugs.
I can bearly wait to tell you!
It seems always around 11:00 PM Bill see's a black bear siting either right under the window or down below....WELL! Last night around 11:45PM Bill was calling for me as I had just fallen asleep yelling bear! bear!....We watched below a brown bear...that is, a blonde brown bear almost yellow all around except reddish brown underneath...huge...(I never lie)....it was sitting eating grass, waddled over towards the neighbor Mike's road below, and crossed it....we had our binoculars and like two little kids watched in wonder....around here the brown bears are really big....interior Alaska there are what's called grizzly bears, another brown bear version but not as big....it was just not enough light to capture this siting, but our hearts were pounding for sure! In that same spot early in the morning same day, I had watched a moose....and we've seen a wolf in that area this winter, a black bear a few days ago, seems to be lots of traffic there....awesome, folks, just awesome....in time I'll be sharing beautiful photos of Alaska in it's finest natural world of wonder. Hugs

Happy Summer Days!
Hello Everyone!
This will be the start of a journey over time of my photos and writings....lots to learn about what's called "blogging" but I'm ready for a new challenge....I hope to share what my eyes captivate living here in rural Alaska....the visuals of the ever blooming variety of wildflowers have only just begun! I've been eating fresh fireweed shoots as salad, and sauteing fresh fiddleheads in garlic, butter&olive oil...yummy! My new birthday gift from Bill, a wildlife cam camera, should be promising photos with all the black bear moose and porcupines visiting. More to come....another time.Hugs.
